At Koraes Elementary School, we believe a strong school builds a strong community. That is why for over 115 years we have been committed to building dynamic community partnerships to support our school.

Every day we are inspired by the creativity and innovation we see in our classrooms. Whether it be through the arts, music, or the STEM programs we utilize, we are creating a better future for our students and for our community.

Working directly with supporters — like you — helps us to remain a vital part of our community and to provide essential resources and enrichment opportunities to every Koraes Elementary School student.

Giving FAQ

  • In the State of Illinois, Koraes Elementary is able to define and shape the curriculum and educational focus for its students as a private learning institution, unlike fully funded, public schools. As such, we rely heavily on our families through their tuition payments, as well as the generosity of our Community Partners, our alumni, and the Orthodox community. This ensures we remain Orthodox and are able to keep our Hellenic culture as a rich part of the curriculum.

  • Donations, unless specifically identified for a particular need, are used to offset the deficit of the normal operating budget. In the event no deficit exists, money is directed to the Father Byron Koraes Assistance Fund.

  • Yes! When individuals give - even modestly - their contributions strengthen our community. For example, if we receive $30 from 190 people, $57,000 would be available to support classrooms, extracurricular programs, teacher professional development, and much more. Every dollar matters!

  • Yes. Please reach out to the Head of School to discuss how you can best support Koraes.

  • A tax-deductible donation is a contribution made to a qualified nonprofit or charitable organization that can be deducted from your taxable income. When you make a tax-deductible gift, you may lower the amount of income you are taxed on, which can reduce your overall tax liability. To qualify, the donation must be made to an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organization and no goods or services may be received in return, unless their value is subtracted from the donation amount. Always keep a receipt or acknowledgment for your records and consult a tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
